Our Community
Co-workers, Volunteers, Staff, Support Workers, Trustees, Friends, Customers, Neighbours – all these groups are a valued and valuable part of our Phoenix Community. We are fortunate to have so many people contributing to the success of Phoenix, providing everything from their time in volunteering, both on site and behind-the-scenes, attending and promoting events, networking on our behalf, through to buying our products, made by the most important component of our community, our brilliant co-workers.
Our Co-Worker Crew
Our co-workers are at the heart of our community, so we were delighted with this comment from Cambridgeshire County Council’s most recent monitoring report:
“Observations highlighted warm, respectful interactions between staff and those supported, contributing to a positive and inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels valued.”

Comments from our Volunteers
“I love working with the different personalities and learning about the different people at Phoenix. One of the co-workers shared that she was nervous when I first came in, but she isn’t anymore. “
“The whole experience at Phoenix has been very positive for me and I would recommend it to anyone.”
“I like the variety of places that I work, one week I am in the kitchen, next in the woodshed.”
“I feel part of the community at Phoenix sharing lunches and breaktime altogether. It’s worth coming to Phoenix just for the food at lunchtime.”
“I enjoy being at Phoenix and feel like I learn something new every week. Everyone is lovely and friendly and makes you feel part of the team.”
Local Community
We are truly fortunate to be situated in Milton; a village whose residents provide us with wonderful support. We genuinely appreciate our relationships with local organisations and businesses, Milton Country Park, Edmund Trust, All Saints Church, Tesco’s, to name but a few. Our community collaborations include hosting two monthly cafes – one for Park Runners on site and the other in the church where all are welcome. We have also enticed Histon Country Market to Milton, with some pop ups at Phoenix throughout the year, along with our seasonal events such as the Christmas Fair and Easter workshops. See our calendar for our next events.
Business Links
We enjoy our collaboration with local businesses, who allow employees to donate some company time to volunteer at Phoenix – we always put them to effective use – past examples include, laying a new path, making a bug hotel, renovating our dilapidated shed, and flipping burgers at the summer BBQ. The feedback includes an acknowledgement of the understanding gained into the workings of a small charity and the positive difference that Phoenix makes.
Elsewhere our business friends assist in many other ways – purchasing products, promoting our work, attending our events, and inviting us to theirs – we are always open to suggestions and ideas around future partnerships – just ask!
