Founding Trustees recognised that there was a lack of opportunities to experience manual work for people disadvantaged by learning disabilities. They took over an existing business, a small factory producing concrete slabs and adapted the model to provide a supported learning environment within a real manufacturing and sales setting. A scheme of learning providing a framework of general knowledge and understanding relating to the world of work has been continually developed and in 2013 Phoenix will be offering nationally recognised qualifications in Employability Skills.
